CONFIRMATION 2023

The confirmation year ended in May. Classes will resume again in September. On May 7th two of our youth were confirmed. Congratulations to Robert B. and Sammi S. for completing their confirmation instruction.  We wish God’s blessings be poured upon them.

Please contact Pastor Tom or the church office if you have questions or would like more information about our Confirmation program.

Attend the ELCA National Youth Gathering in 2024!

The 2024 Gathering will take place next summer, July 16-20 in New Orleans, LA (for high school students). The Young Adult Gathering (ages 18-35) will also take place concurrently with the Gathering, July 16-20.

The theme for the 2024 Gathering and the Young Adult Gathering is “Created to Be,” centered on Psalm 139:14. Created by the Holy Spirit:

  •   We are created to be brave, to show up with an open mind and heart, willing to be challenged.
  •   We are created to be authentic, to bring our whole selves and know that we are loved by our Creator.
  •   We are created to be free, to be transformed by the gospel.
  •   We are created to be disruptive, to work for justice for all our siblings.
  •   We are created to be disciples, to be sent out into the world to love our neighbor just as we are loved by God.

Our host city, New Orleans, has always been its true, authentic self. Our theme, “Created to Be,” highlights the arts, music and soul of this beautiful, vibrant and resilient city. New Orleans was built to host and be a city where all God’s children come together.

If you’re interested in attending, please contact Pastor Tom.

CONFIRMATION PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Our Confirmation program at Marin Lutheran is a three year program designed for youth in the 6th – 8th grades to provide a place for students to:

    • Experience the love and grace of God and develop their own, personal relationship with God.
    • Learn and experience some of the practices of our faith—prayer, meditation.
    • Learn about the Christian, Lutheran faith and to experience religion and faith that is vital in today’s world.
    • Confirmation, not conformation—we strive to give your children the tools they need to confirm their faith, not so much conform to a narrow set of beliefs.

During twice-monthly classes students study: The Old & New Testaments, Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, Lutheran History & Lutheran Living. They attend other houses of worship, serve the hungry, go on retreat and discover that our holy God is unconditionally in love with each one of us. To learn more about Confirmation at MLC please contact Pastor Tom.
